Wild South Headache

I've been awake since before 6am, which is criminal considering today is Saturday. I was, however, in bed around 8:44pm last night... yes, on a Friday night if you please. You'll have to take into account the fact that I decided to join work mates at the "bar" around 4:30pm (ed: we have a bar-type area at our work) for a glass of sav blanc (Wild South) or 2... or however-many-I-ended-up-drinking!

We had some laughs, talking rubbish about everything from the state of the market (its hitting some of our brokers hard, and others are benefiting from all the mortagee sales), to technology (remembering the days of portable 7" record players - something I couldn't relate to), which aptly need to a discussion on the youth of today (how OLD am I sounding?! LOL).

People left in dribs and drabs; I was among the last 3. Luckily a made it home easily via bus around 8pm. I think the real drunkness hit when I was in the shower - yes, there was singing. Terrible singing. But I was home alone so no crime. Obviously the lack-o-food struck again (the only thing I ate all day as a McCheeseburger, around 1pm).

I was in no state for food though. I remember looking at the clock at 8:44pm, then I was goneburgers. I woke at 1am, and again around 3am... by 5:30am I couldn't get back to sleep.

So, I did what any normal person does: I got up, fed the cat, and got myself the best cure for a vague-hangover: cold can of V and 2 pieces of cold pizza (maybe from Thursday night?! I can't remember what night we had pizza for dinner).

Since 6am I've finished a book ('Sweetheart' by Chelsea Cain; a cracker sequel to 'Heartsick'. Seriously gives Hannibal Lector a run for his money... in fact if Lector was a woman, he might be Gretchen Lowell, the serial killer in Cain's series).

I've started another ('Embrace the Night' by Karen Chance; its the third in a silly supernatural series). And I've caught up on some of the music blogs I like to browse - I have some random stuff to share with y'all.

But first, I haven't raved about my love for google and igoogle lately. Oh, I am still enamoured, I've just been busy. This morning I changed my igoogle theme - almost had a dance-for-joy-fit when I saw this artist as a theme:

Edward Monkton igoogle theme!! Isn't that just the thing to start the day?! Once again, I heart igoogle.

And second, My Week:
Well, what a week it's been! Super-super busy. Mind-numbing. A new staff member started and I was required to train her - so I spent on average at least 2 hours a day with her, as well as preparing for and giving a lunch demo to another part of the business (I even had to order the lunch), sourcing 2 new sets of data (working through all the criteria and quotes etc), finished entering SOMEONE ELSE'S contact list into the database (don't even get me started on how I ended up doing that - their data was shocking too...), helping out another office that is short-staffed (searching and creating a marketing mailing list, then fixing around 700 addresses), meeting with one of my staff for a catch-up, attending a teleconference with staff from the Singapore, Canada, Sydney, and Hong Kong office, doing my own work... I have no doubt missed something I wanted to rant about, but you get the general idea (in case you didn't: BUSY!).

I found time after work one night to watch episode 6 of 'True Blood' - man oh man, I LOVE this show!!! Addicted! Anna Paquin as Sookie has totally grown on me.

I also watched 'Inland Empire', the latest from David Lynch. I think I am still too confused to comment on it...

Another on my DVD list this week was 'Lucky You', starring Eric Dana, Drew Barrymore, and Robert Duvall. It was an ok watch - good for a straight to DVD release (in NZ it was anyway). Nothing super-special about it though.

Sitting next to me I have 'The Nines', a 2007 film starring Hope Davis and Ryan Reynolds. I've heard some awesome things about the premise of this film and its big ideas. It will have to wait, because I am going to be out-and-about today (I feel surprisingly bouncy... even though I am writing this from bed!).

Tonight I have a fun night planned (fun for me and mine anyway!): off to Gina's for pizza/pasta delight, then back to my place for the last 'Project Runway' marathon. A few of us love the show and have been "getting" the new series, which hasn't screened here. We now have the last 5 or so episodes to enjoy (while we laugh and talk over the show, drink wine and munch on nibbles).

High on my list of weekend activities: going to the movies to see one or both of, 'Choke', and/or 'Burn After Reading'.

I'm also hanging with D; not sure of the plans.

So, wow. There you have it. I'm going to start a new post for the random stuff I want to mention.
