Best Dinner of my life

I stumbled across this note I had typed - after my incredible dinner with D & Luke after their marriage (D keeps correcting me when I call it a wedding. The wedding is still to come). This is what the chef served us for his 6 course "Idea of the Moment" menu. Check out Kermadec here

(I suck at remembering wines - I just drink it! But for each course we were served matching wines)

Taste from the chef: Tuna sashami with garlic/mint peas on the side? (Not on the menu)
Wine: Champagne

1. Big Glory Bay Salmon Ballotine, Detroit red beetroot, horseradish and crème fraiche, toasted seaweed brioche $18.00
Wine: Pinot gris 2007 Gibbston Valley (maybe...)

*2. Ravioli of Crayfish, Sauté of whelks in absinthe, encrasse of fennel and licorice $22.00
Wine: (white...)

3. Butter Poached John Dory, ‘Sous Vide’ Rus el hanout, zucchini flower, freshly picked crab, and pine nut zephyr $38.00-with side salad
Wine: Chardonnay 2006 Craggy Range 'Gimblett Gravels'

4. Crisp-skin King Cole Duck, Braised whitlof, salt roasted Detroit red beetroot, grilled red plums, banyuls cinnamon jus $33.00-with side salad
Wine: Syrah 2005 Te Awa Syrah

5. Strawberry sorbet, with poached peach? (Not listed on their menu)
Wine: Rose

6. Nitro Raspberry Balloon, Basil pannacotta, macaroon crumble, orange cake, and pistachio espuma $19.00
Wine: (white...)

Cheese, crackers, fresh bread

Yes, we were very full after that, and it did take about 4 hours from start to finish. The BEST meal of my life. To date.

*I think this was my favourite dish.
