The Plot: In a futuristic utopian world where humans live in isolation and interact through surrogate robots, an FBI agent (Willis) begins to investigate the first murder in years, and unravels a vast conspiracy.

The Plot: After family man Clyde Shelton (Butler) is failed by the court system, he concocts a series of events designed to exact his revenge on the killers of his wife and daughter. And from inside his jail cell, the mastermind lures the prosecutor (Foxx) who orchestrated the unjust deal into his deadly plan.

The Plot: An anthology of love stories set in New York City.

An Education [ imdb ]
Director: Lone Scherfig; Starring: Peter Sarsgaard, Carey Mulligan, Alfred Molina
The Plot: A coming-of-age story about a teenage girl in 1960s suburban London, and how her life changes with the arrival of a playboy nearly twice her age. Screenplay worked by Nick Hornby - this film is getting all sorts of great reviews.

The Plot: A couple (Rudolph and Krasinski) who is expecting their first child travel around the U.S. in order to find a perfect place to start their family.

The Plot: An eccentric older man (David) encounters a Southern belle (Wood) and promptly falls in love. But how will the couple, her family, and his New York City friends mix? Woody Allen, with Evan Rachel Wood, Larry David, Henry Cavill, Patricia Clarkson... I'm sold!!!!

The Plot: A romantic drama set in 1920s Paris, where the son of a courtesan (Friend) retreats into a fantasy world after being forced to end his relationship with the older woman (Pfeiffer) who educated him in the ways of love.

The Plot: A detective (Morgan) begins to unravel a missing-persons case that might spell doom for the heir to a New York real estate dynasty (Gosling), who fell for a young woman from the wrong side of the tracks (Dunst).

The Plot: Soon after Beth (Byrne) moves into her new apartment, the beautiful, emotionally fragile writer is drawn to her downstairs neighbor, Adam, a handsome young guy who has Asperger's Syndrome.

The Time Traveler's Wife [ imdb ]
Director: Robert Schwentke; Starring: Eric Bana, Rachel McAdams, Ron Livingston
The Plot: A romantic drama about a Chicago librarian (Bana) with a gene that causes him to involuntarily time travel, and the complications it creates for his marriage. Another book I loved - I am in anticipation of this movie!

Julie & Julia [ imdb ]
Director: Nora Ephron; Starring: Amy Adams, Meryl Streep, Chris Messina
The Plot: Frustrated secretary Julie Powell (Adams) tries to shake up her life by chronicling her attempt to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking in a year's time. I really loved this book and can't wait to see it on the big screen, especially with Amy Adams starring.

Two Lovers [imdb]
Director: James Gray; Starring: Joaquin Phoenix, Gwyneth Paltrow, Vinessa Shaw
Comment: Leonard (Phoenix) returns to Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, where he soon falls for two very different women: the family friend his parents wish he would marry (Shaw) and his beautiful but volatile new neighbor (Paltrow). I'm a sucker for an indie romantic drama.

Youth in Revolt [imdb]
Director: Miguel Arteta; Starring: Michael Cera, Portia Doubleday, Ray Liotta, Steve Buscemi
Comment: Like most teens, young Nick Twisp (Cera) is ruled by his libido. And from the recesses of a trailer park in Northern California, Twisp concocts a plan -- make that multiple schemes -- to lose his virginity to a local girl, the precocious Sheeni Saunders (Doubleday). This could be another Juno (without teen pregnancy).

A Perfect Getaway [imdb]
Director: David Twohy; Starring: Milla Jovovich, Steve Zahn, Timothy Olyphant
Comment: A Hawaiian honeymoon turns dangerous for two lovers (Zahn and Jovovich) when they discover they are being stalked by a pair of killers (Olyphant and Sanchez) who are posing as friendly hikers. Sounds a little "done", I know. But the cast is cool, and I have heard some good buzz. The film was made in one month.

Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Ryan Reynolds
The Plot: During the summer of 1987, recent college grad James Brennan (Eisenberg) takes what he thinks is a going-nowhere job at his local amusement park, only to discover it's a perfect opportunity to prepare himself for the real world.

The Brothers Bloom [imdb]
Starring: Rachel Weisz, Adrien Brody, Mark Ruffalo
Comment: A pair of brothers and veteran conmen (Brody and Ruffalo) target an enigmatic wealthy woman (Weisz) as their potential last job, fully unaware of the twists in the road ahead of them. This made it onto all my lists last year - I am hoping this year I will get to see this film.

My Sister's Keeper [imdb]
Director: Nick Cassavetes; Starring: Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, Alec Baldwin, Jason Patric
The Plot: When a family matter leads to Anna Fitzgerald (Breslin) learning the truth about her conception, she enlists the services of a seasoned lawyer (Baldwin) in an effort to emancipate herself from her parents (Diaz and Patric).

The Goods: The Don Ready Story [imdb]

The Plot: Used-car liquidator Don Ready (Piven) is hired by a flailing auto dealership to turn their Fourth of July sale into a majorly profitable event.

The Wolf Man [imdb]
Starring: Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt
The Plot: Nobleman Lawrence Talbot (Del Toro) returns to his ancestral homeland, where his brother has gone missing and villagers are being killed by a nightmarish beast. The search reunites him with his estranged father (Hopkins) and draws him near to his brother's fiancée (Blunt), however, Talbot's lager concern is the discovery of a side to himself which he never could have imagined existed...

The Plot: Young Susie watches over her family from heaven as they deal with the aftermath of her brutal rape and murder.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs [ imdb ]

The Plot: Inspired by the children's book, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs focuses on a town where food falls from the sky like rain.

The Plot: In a world overrun by zombies, a guy described as "the most frightened person on Earth" (Eisenberg) musters the courage to lead a band of refugees on a cross-country pilgrimage to an amusement park where they think they'll be safe.

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant [ imdb ]
Director: Paul Weitz; Starring: Chris Massoglia, John C. Reilly, Salma Hayek
The Plot: A traveling freak show's most mysterious attraction recruits teenager Darren Shan as his assistant, though the young man soon finds himself used as a pawn in a battle between vampires and their deadlier counterparts.

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day [ imdb ]
Director: Troy Duffy; Starring: Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, Billy Connolly
The Plot: The MacManus brothers, who are living a quiet life on the family farm in Ireland, return to Boston to exact their unique form of revenge on the mob forces who have framed the brothers for the murder of a local priest.

The Plot: An animated retelling of the Charles Dickens novel about Ebenezer Scrooge (Carrey), a Victorian-era miser who is taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions.

The Plot: An investigator (Jovovich) is dispatched to Nome, Alaska to puzzle out a 40-year-long mystery involving an extraordinary number of unexplained disappearances in the town. Her videotaped evidence looks to present the most convincing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.

The Plot: A young couple is gifted with a mysterious box that promises them a handsome windfall with deadly consequences.

The Men Who Stare at Goats [ imdb ]

The Plot: In Iraq, reporter Bob Wilton (McGregor) meets Lyn Cassady (Clooney), whose seemingly wild claim - that he's a member of the U.S. Army's First Earth Battalion, a unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions - causes Wilton to join Cassady's hunt for the battalion's founder, whose gone missing.
