Remember Diet

Yesterday was Day three of project Love Yourself (aka the Diet). Where it all got a bit blurry was meeting up with a friend for dinner and drinks.

We had a fabulous time catching up. The atmosphere was perfect, and the everything on menu looked delicious. But short of ordering a side salad, I was going to have to stretch my diet a little.

Granted, two glasses of wine could’ve easily been one… or I guess none (all that sugar!). We decided to order to share: fish bites, squid, and a margherita pizza. Deep fried, along with cheesy goodness oh how I’ve missed you.

But, look, I didn’t fail. I’m not punishing myself. I enjoyed myself, and didn’t ‘pig out’. I didn’t order dessert.

Today at lunch the whole office ordered in pizza, and I had my salad.

I guess the point I am trying to make here is: I know the meal wasn’t good for me, but I didn’t let eating it be the excuse for ending my diet. It was one meal. There are many more meals to consider. At lunch today I could’ve said: to hell with it; I had pizza last night, might as well have pizza for lunch.

So, if you’re in the same boat as me I hope you reach that same conclusion. Not guilt. The food I had last night was an exception, not the rule (like it had become).

Kinda makes it a bit more special too; dinner out :)
