Auckland Art & Craft Fair, Nov 2013

The Auckland Art & Craft Fair is a one of a kind, special event happening twice a year, in Winter and in Summer. Designed to showcase a selection of New Zealand best independent and contemporary Designers, Artists & Crafters selling their products direct to the public for one day only.

At the Fair you will find products with an emphasis on quality, craftsmanship, creativity and style. You can purchase direct from the seller, knowing that you are supporting our local talent and you will be taking home a special piece that has soul.

This was my first time going to the Auckland Art & Craft Fair, and I will definitely be going again! I had a fantastic time. So many talented kiwi designers under one roof, and I had too little spending money!

I came away with 3 special purchases, but there was so much more I could have splurged on. Some sellers had eftpos, or there was 'craft money' (which could be bought using eftpos at a central kiosk in $5 increments, with a 50 cent transaction fee).

This is my second handmade bag from Estelle of Brighton; as soon as I saw it, I HAD to have it (her only 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' at the time too!). The necklace is actually a little pop-open clock (for the life of me, I can't remember which seller it's from), and the earrings are sterling silver peridot studs from Silverstone Jewellery.

After coming home with my wee haul, I went through all the business cards I had picked up and looked them up online. Here are some of my favourite sellers from the day:

Bird in A Bunny Suit
Gorgeous illustrations - cards and prints

Bonjour Sweetie
The most AMAZING dioramas - boxes and necklaces! I adored the crime scene ones.

Erika Pearce
Saw Erika's work at The Very Vintage Day Out and fell in love with her style.

Estelle of Brighton
(I can't seem to access her site at the moment, so here is her FB page too)
Divine handmade hand-bags. I had a lovely talk with her on Saturday; she even remembered the bag I bought from her at The Very Vintage Day out and offered me a discount! ♥ Sooo I bought her 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' bag, pictured above.

Extra Curricular Mag
Extra Curricular is about folks who get creative with their spare time. Published out of Auckland three times a year by Ellie Smith and a small team of dedicated contributors passionate about making and doing, Extra Curricular features up-and-coming creatives from both sides of the Tasman who care about the world and what they are putting out into it.

High production values and beautiful paper stock – combined with a curiosity about the processes and spaces of creative people – make for a compact package that feels nice in your hands.

Created in 2009, and now a few thousand copies down the track, each one is still hand-numbered – we like it that way.

I didn't purchase or subscribe to the magazine on the day, but I am going to :)

Flora Waycott Design
Another seller with incredible talent!! Love her style - as prints and on plates.

Helo Birdie
Cute prints!

Koro Accessories
Love this jewellery, especially the Pink Totoro necklace... I feel an online purchase coming on...

'Re-loved' plates; a-mazing hand painted vintage bone china plates

Tofutree Art & Design
Funky designs - prints on canvas, cushions etc. I am very fond of their fox print

Silverstone Jewelley
NZ crafted silver jewellery. There are a few of their peridot pieces I am coveting.

A couple of random snaps from the fair:

Love this idea of taking mini milk bottles and putting fabric labels on them

Cool prints

  1. Hmm it appears like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so
I guess I'll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog.

I too am an aspiring blog writer but I'm still new to
everything. Do you have any suggestions for newbie blog writers?
    I'd really appreciate it.

    1. Hi there! I am sorry your comment was eaten! And I wish I could see the link to your blog :( As you are anonymous, I am not sure you will even see this reply... But I am going to write a wee post right now that might or might not help :)

      Thanks so much for reading!
