Favourite... BB Cream

(My skin: Fair colouring, Normal - though prone to both dry and oily areas, Hormonal break-outs usually around my chin/neck, Dark under-eye, in my thirties so some anti-aging concerns)

I was pretty excited when BB creams hit the market.

Yes, I had to Google what one was too! BB cream stands for blemish balm, blemish base, beblesh balm (apparently because of a trademark in Korea on the word "blemish"), and in Western markets, beauty balm. It is a cosmetic item sold mainly in East and Southeast Asia, although larger beauty brands are increasingly introducing BB creams to Western markets.

BB cream is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock. It can be worn alone as a tinted moisturizer, over serum and moisturizer as a regular foundation, and under powder, depending on the desired amount of coverage.

Thanks wiki :P

I tried a few and was pretty disappointed! Rimmel and Urban Decay to name two brands (I ADORE Urban Decay as a brand, but their BB cream wasn't for me).

Then my hairdresser raved about one she had tried in the US. I'm a sucker for 'the-next-best-thing', so I jumped on the Google machine and figured out how I could get the product to NZ (for myself and her).

Tarte's BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen

Indulge your skin with this powerful multitasker that works as a primer, moisturizer, light foundation, antiaging treatment, and sunscreen to give you a youthful-looking glow. Worn alone or as the perfect base for makeup, this 12-hour, age-defying, oil-free primer offers light-to-medium, buildable coverage that helps even skintone and other skin imperfections while diffusing light to minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and pores. The creamy, silky formula goes on smooth and blends easily, leaving you with a natural-looking, flawless finish with a broad-spectrum, chemical-free SPF 30 that offers ideal protection from the sun’s harmful UVA/UVB rays.

I fricken love this product! I ended up buying it from Sephora and shipping it to NZ via YouShop, and I am sooo glad I did. Its texture is beyond silky and only a small amount is required - though you can build a bit of coverage. Depending on how my skin is doing I use this over moisturiser, or instead of. It's replaced any primer I was using before foundation... and that's even IF I wear foundation over it. Even today, at work, I am simply wearing this bb cream with some powder.

I've gone with the 'light' shade, and will definitely be buying another tube ASAP.

Have you tried either tarte's bb cream - what did you think? Can you tempt me with a different primer?? Comment below :)
