Poem: Liberty by Paul Eluard

This poem is used in the new David Cronenberg film, 'Maps to the Stars' (2014). Some of the paragraphs were repeated over and over by different characters at different points; mesmerizing..

On my school notebooks
On my desk and on the trees
On the sands of snow
I write your name

On the pages I have read
On all the white pages
Stone, blood, paper or ash
I write your name

On the images of gold
On the weapons of the warriors
On the crown of the king
I write your name

On the jungle and the desert
On the nest and on the brier
On the echo of my childhood
I write your name

On all my scarves of blue
On the moist sunlit swamps
On the living lake of moonlight
I write your name

On the fields, on the horizon
On the birds’ wings
And on the mill of shadows
I write your name

On each whiff of daybreak
On the sea, on the boats
On the demented mountaintop
I write your name

On the froth of the cloud
On the sweat of the storm
On the dense rain and the flat
I write your name

On the flickering figures
On the bells of colors
On the natural truth
I write your name

On the high paths
On the deployed routes
On the crowd-thronged square
I write your name

On the lamp which is lit
On the lamp which isn’t
On my reunited thoughts
I write your name

On a fruit cut in two
Of my mirror and my chamber
On my bed, an empty shell
I write your name

On my dog, greathearted and greedy
On his pricked-up ears
On his blundering paws
I write your name

On the latch of my door
On those familiar objects
On the torrents of a good fire
I write your name

On the harmony of the flesh
On the faces of my friends
On each outstretched hand
I write your name

On the window of surprises
On a pair of expectant lips
In a state far deeper than silence
I write your name

On my crumbled hiding-places
On my sunken lighthouses
On my walls and my ennui
I write your name

On abstraction without desire
On naked solitude
On the marches of death
I write your name

And for the want of a word
I renew my life
For I was born to know you
To name you

Hidden Object Games: Fright CE

A Hidden Object Game at a basic level involves finding hidden objects in a picture. The HO games I play do involve this task, but also navigating scenes searching for clues/objects, solving puzzles and mysteries etc. (I'm into more of the sub-genre called HOPA, or Hidden Object Puzzle Adventures)

Today's game is...

... Fright Collector's Edition

From Lesta, creators of the Nightmare Realm series, comes a terrifying new thriller! After a suspicious accident, you find yourself stranded at a run-down motel with a group of strangers. You quickly realize that your group is not the first - people have been disappearing in this same area for the past 10 years! The first was a little girl… the very same girl you saw in a dream just before your accident. But before you can put the pieces together, a terrifying new threat begins targeting your group one by one. Can you survive to uncover the mystery of the motel and escape before it's too late? Find out in this chilling Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game!

Overall an enjoyable game, and slightly creepy. It was my kind of HOPA, in that items were more interactive - using them together, one leading to another etc. There were no instructions for the mini-games - from memory, all bar one were intuitive (I had to skip it as I couldn't be bothered assing about). The other puzzles were very easy though (which is a shame).

I had hoped for a darker/creeper game, and for more of a challenge. I still had fun. It's enough that I will take a look at other Lesta games.

Cards for a Cause 1

I work for a charity, and all the staff have decided that we will fundraise too! For August I'm going to make and sell my greetings cards, with all money going to our charity!

I had a cheeky request to include some "cards for boys". I'm not very good at making masculine looking cards (I like to add cute creatures, glitter etc.).

Here's my first "masculine" design. I made four of them, all Happy Birthday.

stamps: Lawn Fawn clear stamps So Much To Say,
ink: Memento Ink Pad in Tuxedo Black
paper: 300gsm white card (scored and cut to A6), Basic Grey 6x6 pad Wander, Kraft card
accessories: Lawn Fawn stackables cuts Circle, string, buttons, foam tape/squares

Google: Nelson Mandela

I love it when Google celebrates (though it might've gone overboard with the World Cup :P ). Today Google celebrates Nelson Mandela (July 18th 1918 - December 5th 2013), who would've been 96 today.

Time Management Games: Youda Sushi Chef 2

Yes, I looove time management games. Time Management games are games in which you perform a series of tasks or processes as quickly as possible e.g. manage/cook/serve at a restaurant, stock/run a supermarket, babysit, manage a hotel, build/decorate houses. When I finish a TMG I love, I Google trying to find more like it. Also, when I say 'finish', I mean get the gold/expert score on every single level!

 Today's game is...

Play this tasty and fun time management game and become the ultimate chef in Youda Sushi Chef 2! 6 amazing different restaurants! Prepare more than 50 dishes! 6 challenging Boss Battles! Unlock all features and levels!

The first Youda Sushi Chef is one of my favourite Time Management Games ever! I even went back to my PC to play this sequel. There is a LOT of game play, and some challenges - some of the challenges are simply because it doesn't explain what the challenges are!! (e.g. I had to Google a couple of times to figure out HOW to get some of the combos).

Sushi Chef also branches out into other restaurant types - fun... but I'd settle for more sushi variety. I'm a little disappointed there was no upgrades for the appearance of the restaurants (as per the first Sushi Chef).

I'd recommend it, but the original is definitely still my favourite.
