To the Anonymous Commenter...

This comment was left anonymously on a post. The post was from November last year, but the comment only from last weekend:

Hmm it appears like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so
I guess I'll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog.

I too am an aspiring blog writer but I'm still new to everything. Do you have any suggestions for newbie blog writers? I'd really appreciate it.

There was a link to the aforementioned blog, but MY blog appears to have stripped it out of the comment :/ So, I can't find this person...

To Anonymous, thank you! Thank you for your kind comment, and for reading my blog!

I started this blog in 2005 (yikes!!). I've written in a journal since I was 9 or 10 (and still do), so a blog seemed like the next step. Over the years I've used this space for different reasons: personal rants, movie news, craft photos, concert updates/reviews, listing lists (I love lists hehe)... Basically, for whatever I wanted.

This blog is for me (selfish much?!)! Annnd, it's cool to think someone out there might just stumble across it and read something - a rave over my newest favourite lip-gloss, or a lament over my Ex...

I'm not a 'blog writer' (though, I have a blog, and I write...). The only suggestion I can think to offer anyone writing a blog: write what you know, what you love... share... be honest... be yourself. Use your blog to engage with others. Your blog doesn't have to be about one thing only - just go with it, and you might find your niche!

I don't know whether your blog is to generate money, or publicity, or what, but mine is just a personal scrapbook really - and then I started pinning some of the photos from my posts to Pinterest to share to a wider audience... I don't have a huge hit rate (except for one certain post I wrote about a certain celebrity and her plastic surgery *eye roll*) and I hardly get comments, but I'm not in it for that.

Oh, and spell-check! Grammar check! If you're going to write, get it right.

There blogs about how to blog; the dos and don'ts. I say use common  sense.

Unless you are doing something very specific, just go for it! (Use 'tags' to group your common posts, add a 'search' and subscription function for your readers, use widgets to link in your other social sites e.g. instagram, twitter etc., try to write regularly even if it's just once a week).

Good luck, and if you're reading this, please leave a comment with your blog address!!
